One thing Yorkshire has always been full of is barns… and a tonne of them have been converted into the best Yorkshire wedding barn venues the country has to offer!
Whether the vibe you’re chasing is rustic and ambient, or modern and full of light, in Yorkshire you’re spoiled for choice…
Over the many years I’ve been photographing weddings, I’ve seen barn weddings increase hugely in popularity, with new ones seeming to pop up every year! Some keep things rustic, with ancient oak beams and exposed brickwork, and others have gone modern and funky, with huge windows, statement giant mirrorballs and chandeliers.
Top 10 Barn Wedding Venues in Yorkshire!
I’ve shot hundreds of weddings in barn venues around Yorkshire and the UK and it’s been tough narrowing the list to the top 10 Yorkshire Wedding Barns! We wedding photographers are an ‘all seeing eye’ and can evaluate venues not just by how beautiful they are in the best possible light, but also how they’re run – on display and behind the scenes – and in all weathers and at weddings huge or intimate!

1. Priory Cottages & Barn - an exclusive wedding barn venue on a working farm near Wetherby
Priory Barn and Cottages is a stunning Yorkshire wedding Barn venue on a working farm, surrounded by beautiful, rolling agricultural farmland. It strikes just the right blend of romance and enchantment, and is as comfortable hosting intimate weddings in the Barn (which seats up to 60 guests) as larger weddings (up to 140) in the marquee (and weather permitting can even hold outdoor ceremonies!).
The staff are friendly and down to earth, all weddings have an exclusive hire – so you’ve the run of the place – and it’s safely away from traffic, allowing kids to safely roam. It has separate spaces for the ceremony, meal and evening partying, so you’re never waiting for rooms to be turned around – and the pretty flower and herb-filled courtyard is the perfect sheltered spot for reception mingling, surrounded by 17 bedrooms in the 7 cosy cottages.
Photo-wise it’s packed with stunning photo locations: after the iconic ‘Priory confetti shot’ – where guests shower the couple from the balcony above – there are loads of lovely spots for pics, such as the ancient arches of Syningthwaite Priory, funky stacks of potato pallets and for quirky portraits and at sunset, the golden sun rakes across the corn fields and makes for the evening stroll to decompress after an action packed day!

2. Cripps & Co’s The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey – a stunning ancient Yorkshire wedding barn in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales
Cripps and Co’s The Tithe Barn is a stunning 16th-century, Grade II listed marvel, overlooking the Bolton Abbey Priory ruins. Its ancient beams, Yorkshire stone flagstone floors, twinkling fairy lights and majestic iron chandeliers make it hugely atmospheric. The open plan barn offers an impressive space that can comfortably host up to 200 guests during the day and an additional 100 for evening shenanigans, making it ideal for both large celebrations and more intimate gatherings.
Licensed for civil ceremonies, couples can choose from an official ceremony on-site, a traditional church service in the Bolton Abbey Priory, or even a personalised celebrant-led service anywhere on the grounds. The Tithe Barn is as famous for its gastronomy as its location, with an open kitchen and indoor BBQ rotisserie for sizzling meat. Sharon and her exceptional team graft to ensure that every aspect of the day meets their high standards, helping to bring couples unique wedding visions to life.
Photographically, the venue is a treasure trove, with lovely views across the Dales, quaint village backgrounds a stone’s throw away and a short drive away, the ruins of Bolton Abbey at the bend of the river Wharfe. Do keep in mind though, that taking photographs down at the ruins might incur additional charges if not holding your ceremony at The Priory Church.
The Tithe Barn stands proud as a venue for those seeking ancient Yorkshire grandeur against an impressive backdrop, with top service and grub to boot!

3. Yorkshire Wedding Barns near Richmond – One of the largest capacity barn wedding venues in Yorkshire
Yorkshire Wedding Barn (AKA: Gilling Old Mill Barn) near Richmond in the Yorkshire Dales is one of the largest Barn wedding venues on a working farm in Yorkshire. Purpose-built for every wedding need, it’s a versatile, exclusive-use North Yorkshire Barn venue set within sweeping valley views and a raft of luxury accommodation.
Available for 1 day wedding celebrations to 3 day wedding experiences, its unique feature is the number of spaces available for use! There’ll be no turning rooms around between events; no rushing suppliers in and out. Just time, space and complete privacy in the heart of North Yorkshire.
The venue comes fully furnished, with all tables, chairs, glassware and PA systems included, along with considered touches such as heaters, candelabras, easels and lanterns. There’s also a private dressing suite on the morning of the wedding. As groomsmen are also generally getting ready in one of the 50 (!) rooms, one photographer can also nip between both wedding groups removing the need for a second photographer.
Able to host ceremonies up to 150 in the Wedding Barn, up to 280 in the Lake Barn and even outdoor ceremonies under a gazeebo, they can certainly cover couples with short and long guests lists!
On the photo front, it’s also packed with fantastic photo backgrounds: from lakes, paths through trees and funky industrial barn backgrounds, and at sunset I’ve even snuck couples into nearby cornfields for a golden hour shoot!

4. Hornington Manor – A stunning farmhouse and barn wedding venue in a working Yorkshire farm near Tadcaster
Nestled within scenic North Yorkshire countryside, between York and Tadcaster, Hornington Manor ticks a lot of boxes for an awesome barn wedding! The Manor House is a great base for guest accommodation and wedding party preparations, supplemented by funky wood cabins on site too.
Two huge barns have been converted; the dramatic Russet Barn – newly launched in 2022, which hosts ceremonies under a huge vaulted ceiling of dynamic oak arches – and the wood clad Dining Barn – which can comfortably seat up to 130 guests under striking lighting and draped ceilings. The expansive lawn at the back of the Manor House is often used for the drinks reception (complete with a mobile ‘ha ha’ bar) and for outdoor ceremonies, all overlooking rolling arable fields. As night falls, the dining barn transforms into a vibrant dance floor, lit by a wall of fairy lights, ready to dance the night away!
Wedding photography-wise, the Courtyard makes for an excellent sheltered spot for confetti, groups and portraits, in front of interesting brick and timber architectural details. The lawn and open fields all around Hornington Manor offer up loads of potential for portraits, especially in the golden evening sun.
Hornington Manor combines natural backgrounds with thoughtful design to create a venue as warm and inviting as a family home.

5. The Chilli Barn – an intimate Barn wedding venue near Otley in the Yorkshire Dales
The Chilli Barn is Yorkshire’s secret little wedding barn, perfect for intimate DIY and alternative weddings. This two storey barn usually hosts ceremonies and partying downstairs and the meal upstairs in between. It exudes a rustic charm and has a funky papakata style teepee outside for afternoon reception overflow. Plus there’s land available for bumping the numbers with marquees and teepees.
Numbers wise, from April to October it has a capacity of 60 day and 90 evening guests, and from November to March only 36 during the day but 90 at night. This venue is also becoming famous for its all-vegetarian menu and amazing vegan desserts, ensuring the culinary experience is as memorable as the occasion.
Overlooking rolling Yorkshire fields and farmland that burst with wild flowers in the Summer, it’s a great spot for portraits and groupshots during a relaxed reception. Chevin Forest Park is literally across the road, for enchanting forest backdrops and ‘Surprise View’, as well as the Chevin’s commanding view only a 5 minute drive away.
The Chilli Barn is the perfect spot for an intimate gathering and a cosy celebration!

6. The Oakwood at Ryther – A high-end, statement barn wedding venue near Tadcaster in Yorkshire
The sister venue to Hornington Manor is The Oakwood at Ryther – a beautiful new barn wedding venue in the lush countryside near Tadcaster, again combining rustic charm with contemporary elegance. This venue also features two well-appointed barns, beautifully manicured gardens and high-end, luxurious airy accommodation – perfect for morning wedding party preparations.
Weddings at The Oakwood transition smoothly from indoors to outdoors with you hardly noticing. The Ceremony Hall sports lofty oak whalebone arches and traditional York stone flooring and can seat up to 160 guests, with a chic champagne bar for welcoming and reception drinks. Celebrations drift into the Courtyard, where fizz and canapés are served.
The Old Grain Store has been beautifully converted to host the wedding breakfast and evening revelry; with exposed brickwork and wooden beams, with elegant chandeliers hanging through draped fabric. A central staircase makes for the a memorable entrance of the newlyweds! This staircase can be used later by guests seeking quiet time too, as there’s a thoughtfully appointed chill out zone up top, for grandma and grandson to catch 40 winks!
For wedding pictures, the venue has acres of beautiful soft grassed walkways, flowerbeds and architectural pergolas, as well as the natural elegance of the Courtyard for family groups and mingling. The Oakwood at Ryther blends all these elements seamlessly for a well planned, all-in-one experience that couples and their guests love.

7. Wharfedale Grange – One of the most glamorous Barn Wedding venues near Harrogate in Yorkshire
Wharfedale Grange is arguably the most luxurious and glamorous wedding Barn in all of Yorkshire! Meticulously managed by Claire, this well planned venue is not only visually stunning but also packed with amenities, from a farm house ideal for preparations and guest accommodation (with its very own hot tub!) and a dressing room above the wedding Barn, for bridal party makeup and gowning up.
There are two main barns: the North Barn – for indoor ceremonies in front of a spectacular fairy light wall – and the South Barn for the wedding breakfast and evening festivities. The double-height room, with mezzanine level chill out zone looks out over chandeliers and a vast mirror ball – which paired with the confetti canons often used during first dance ensure the celebration is nothing short of spectacular!
Photographically, Wharfedale Grange has also had a lot of thought put in. If weather doesn’t suit, there’s the option of an indoor confetti shot akin to Priory Cottages. For portraits and wedding party shots, there’s the gardens of elegant farmhouse, a stone wall and pond walk as well as a vibrant wildflower meadow, against the backdrop of the Harewood Hills.
At Wharfedale Grange, every effort has been made for unparalleled luxury, making it a top choice for those looking to tie glamour with a Yorkshire charm!

8. Bunny Hill – A modern purpose-built Wedding venue near York
An East Yorkshire Wedding Barn, Bunny Hill is nestled between York and Hull and blends rural charm with sophisticated design. Purpose-built barns and a south-facing courtyard have been designed with photography in mind, with expansive windows ushering in natural light, and a wood clad mezzanine lounge bar that looks out onto woodland and countryside.
Bunny Hill have flexible ceremony options, including getting married outside under their majestic oak arbour. Attention to detail and culinary delights are a cornerstone of the Bunny Hill experience, with imaginative menus from creative chefs, for a meal in the huge dining barn.
There’s not much they’ve not thought of here, and even have the option to unwind before or after the big day with a BBQ and clay pigeon shooting!

9. East Riddlesden Hall – An historic barn wedding venue near Keighley in West Yorkshire
East Riddlesden Hall is probably the most ancient of all Yorkshire’s Wedding Barns! With a 400 year old barn festooned in twinkling lights and the historic The National Trust house reflecting in the pond, this is quite the spot!
Ceremonies of up to 160 be seated under the imposing beams of the Airedale Barn (either down the barn, or in front of the glass doors) or for more intimate ceremonies, The Great Hall can conduct micro wedding ceremonies for 30 guests. Afterwards, while guests explore and mingle outside, on hay bales or feeding the ducks, the barn is transformed – half for a wedding breakfast and half for a vibrant evening party.
Photographically. East Riddlesden Hall has charming gardens at the rear, a serene lake for portraits, and it lights up as the blue hour kicks in and the festoons fire up.

10. Sandburn Hall – An oak-beamed barn venue set within York's loveliest golf course
Sandburn Hall, nestled in one of York’s finest golf courses, offers a tranquil wedding Barn vibe, just a hop, skip and a jump from the York ring road.
The heart of Sandburn Hall is the Grand Hall, an impressive oak-framed room on the second floor with commanding floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the golf course and lakes. Accommodating up to 160 guests it’s able to host a large ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party. There’s even the option for an outdoor ceremony in the secluded, nearby White Rose Garden.
One of Sandburn Hall’s strengths is its plethora of amazing lodgings, not only ‘The Sanderson Room’ for dedicated Bridal Preparations, but a brand new wing of stunning bedrooms.
In photography terms, Sandburn Hall sports bridges and lakes, if couples are willing to risk being hit by a stray golf ball! After the golfers retreat, and meals are finished, the sun rakes across the course, flooding into the Grand Hall – the perfect time to get out for a quick final round of ‘golden hour’ portraits!
