Wedding at The Star Inn in Harome are just about perfect: a beautifully styled Yorkshire-centric location that doesn’t take itself too seriously with great scope for an amazing party, and best off all stunning wedding food (Michelin Starred no less!)!
Located in the quaint village of Harome, it’s the picture perfect spot for a beautiful North Yorkshire wedding!
The Star is a just stones throw from another place I frequent, shooting weddings at The Pheasant Hotel on the other side of the village! Harome is also a great base to explore the pretty Market town of Helmsley, 5 mins drive away, and the famous North York Moors beyond!
Weddings are held in The Cross House Lodge, over the road from the Star Gastro Pub. It’s beautiful inside and out – I love the cosy but stylish, tweedy furnishings and big fireplaces – and the girls usually get ready in the eves upstairs.
The chaps have a habit of ducking over to the Bar in the Star, for a bit of dutch courage, before the wedding in the Wheelhouse
At Cross House Lodge, the Wheelhouse with its spectacular beamed roof is without doubt the star!
After the ceremony, it’s great to get guests outside for one of my signature ‘confetti bombs’!
The front and back both work for a relaxed set of family groups and couple portraits.
Once the reception is up, and delicious canapes & fix have been enjoyed, guests head back into the wheelhouse, where the sectional King Arthuresque table magically transforms the ceremony table into smaller wedding breakfasts tables!
The food is what the Star is famous for, and over the years have got to know Andrew and the staff there well (I’ve even been to dine a few times, and distinctly remember the bread being served in flat caps!)
Couples hosting an intimate ceremony and delicious meal in the wheelhouse often want more guests to enjoy their evening celebrations with them. Many of the weddings I’ve shot at The Star use amazing tipi wedding companies like Papakata to set an amazing wigwam type structure up for the evening knees up, complete with firepits, reindeer-fur covered benches and nibble-covered trestle tables.
Whatever the season, The Star is a truly stunning North Yorkshire wedding venue! Not only is overflowing with history and culture, rolling Yorkshire views and beautiful rooms, but it’s a stunning part of Yorkshire for guests and the couple to enjoy!
