About me & thee...
A bit about me and my approach
I’m a born and bred Yorkshireman, a cheerful chappy and a bit of a daft bugger…
At your wedding I’m there to help you have the most fun possible, without taking over or dominating your day, by getting you back to the party ASAP.
My ability to help people smile and relax in any situation has been invaluable to me as a wedding photographer. It’s how I capture such natural, beautiful portraits of my couples and candid pics of guests unawares.
I love people, being creative and telling stories. Wedding photography brings all this together for me – it’s not just about taking photos, it’s about capturing the joy, laughter and precious moments and weaving them together to capture your vibe. I adore my job and I feel privileged to have been a part of so many people’s weddings.

10 things about me:

I love dogs! And Star Wars!
So on May the 4th each year I dress my dog as Star Wars Characters. Because “May The Fourth Be With You”!
Witness the light and dark side of the paws:

I Also keep Rescue Hens
I have rescue hens, named after Star Wars characters…
Their names, I hear you cry?
- Hen Solo
- Princess Layer
- C3PYolk
- Chewpecka
They live in Jabba the Hutch, obvs.

Why Barnaby?
The short answer is that my parents are called John and Jane so my 2 brothers’ and I got weird names!
My name means “The Encourager” apparently, which could be just the character to reinvigorate the tired Marvel Superhero Universe?!

TWEED!
I love anything made of tweed and have an entire wardrobe just for tweed suits and blazers.

The Fam
My lovely fam includes:
- One wife (maiden name Lynsey Anna Jones
- One boy (Lenny ‘Indiana’ - see wife’s maiden name for details)
- One girl (Jasmine Joy, born in the back of our car in the Leeds General Infirmary car park)
- One pooch (Connie, the border terrorist)

Our Wedding
We had a blast organising our epic ‘Narnia’ themed winter wedding, replete with snow-fetti, a guest bake off and live Rockaoke band our guests sang with! It was awesome.

Favourite Pastime?
Once it’d have been more rock n’ roll, but these days, a board games and a nice Yorkshire Tea is the way to my heart!
Fave tea dunking biscuit? The humble Bourbon!
(Though dip timing is dicey)
ps. If you’ve not played Quirkle, you need to.

I get Wanderlust
I keep my personal photo passion alive with annual solo adventures to exotic destinations for travel photography. (I’m VERY lucky to have a very understanding wife, who gives me an annual 2 week pass!)
Unquenchable wanderlust fuels my imagination; my camera is my passport and it feeds back into my love for wedding photography. Check out some posts below:

Parkruns!
I’m a Parkrun nut!
It’s tough fitting Saturday runs around busy wedding summers, but I recently unlocked my 100 parkrun t-shirt with a PB of 25:09 (and unholy noises)!
I even go on Christmas Day.
I was saying for ages I wanted to crack sub 25, and just recently got a new PB of 24:40!
I run so I can eat more crisps.

Movies and TV
If you like watching Race Around the World, Strike, Brassic, The Detectorists or Ted Lasso, we’ll get on. I’ve too many to list, so I’d love to compare notes on your favourite movie!
What do you like to watch?
Did I mention Star Wars?

My photo philosophy
My Focus is always to get you back to the party!

10 things about my style:

Travel photography led to weddings...
After studying Psychology at The University of Nottingham I grabbed my backpack and headed to Bangladesh to start a gap year at a Spinal Injuries Centre. My camera helped me make sense of an alien world around me, and frame memories and make stories.
On my return, I started selling my travel prints and was soon also shooting editorial content for Leeds-based magazines. Inevitably, it wasn’t long before friends started asking me to shoot their weddings and 300+ weddings later, it’s what I do!!

Being unobtrusive AND assertive:
Over fifteen years (and over 300 couples later), I’ve long since completed my 10,000 hours as a pro wedding photographer and can expertly capture a wedding’s vibe without stopping a couple getting on with having the time of their life!
I’m a master of knowing when to blend in like a ninja or hop up on a chair and rally a rabble into an epic confetti bomb.

An invaluable pre-wedding shoot:
They key to unlocking the camera shy!
Not everyone is instantly comfortable in front of a camera, so included in all my packages is a quick (and hopefully fun) photo squirm, a month or so before the wedding!
This not only proves to you I can make you look great, but is training you for the big day, making wedding portraits quicker and ultimately more time celebrating with your party people!
And if you’ve got a fur baby, bring them along!

The secret bridesmaid?
On the day I’m not only there to shoot the action, but also to help keep your day fun and flowing.
While I’m there to represent you in front of your near and dear, I often see my role as the secret bridesmaid, doing my bit with my experience to maximise the wedding.
That or I’m “…always the photographer and never the bride!”

Portraits that don’t make you cringe!
Sometimes 15 minutes away from the guests, taking a walk and laughing with each other, is the perfect tonic in the middle of an action packed wedding.
My relaxed portrait style is unscripted, painless and quick. I’m not the kind of photographer to take you up a hill for an hour, chasing likes on my instagram.

Results, every time:
Nicknamed ‘Captain Consistency’ by my colleagues, I’m known for ALWAYS delivering my signature blend of laid-back portraits, stunning details and timeless moments.
Whatever the vibe, whatever the weather!

Little moments Can tell big stories:
Stylistically, I’m candid-focussed and moment-driven – the flower girl picking her nose, a tear on grandma’s cheek, those screams and tight hugs from mates after the ceremony…
To me, every moment is a confetti moment!

your day, from a guest's perspective:
Keeping a balanced, relaxed approach of documentary photography and story-telling means I’m drawn toward your mates laughing and partying so you can later enjoy epic missed moments of those who matter!

Group shots with personality!
I’m an expert at quickly firing through group photos with gregarious energy.
They have their place at a wedding – and truth be told are usually the ‘framers’ – so I like to make them one step more fun than they usually are, to reflect your personality!

Quick and Efficient...
I’m all about fast turnaround!
No waiting months and months for pics here!
I quickly drop teasers and highlights on insta/facebook/my blog and ALWAYS turnaround a full gallery of beautifully edited images in under a month.

I am in the business
of making magic!
