Middleton Lodge Richmond Wedding Photos

Truly one of Yorkshire’s finest country house wedding venues

Wedding Photography ideas and inspiration from Middleton Lodge near Richmond in North Yorkshire

Middleton Lodge is one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues – a stunning hotel, restaurant and venue set in 200 acres of rural North Yorkshire, seamlessly blending the modern and the timeless, on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales! I love shooting weddings in the Old House and the Walled Gardens (see recent posts there at the end), and both offer a perfect wedding background.

Set in private gardens (and still partially lived in as a private home), the Main House has several grand reception rooms and 16 bedrooms, and makes for a truly lovely setting for a bespoke wedding.

The Oak room and grand bedrooms, as well as their newly established Coach House are a lovely place to photograph the morning preparations

The wedding ceremony rooms at Middleton Lodge

Within the estate, they’ve now got two separate areas in which to host weddings; the Georgian Country Mansion – with ceremonies outside on the lawn, in the Grand Hall or in the Drawing Room – and their stunning new Fig House venue!

I do enjoy their ceremonies in the grand old Hall though.

It’s so important to me that my couples have a fab experience with me, and these reviews from real couples on Google and Facebook are great to read, straight from the horse’s mouth:

I’ve photographed the wedding breakfast meals in the marquee and around the hall, depending on the size of the weddings.

Then when it’s time for the first dance and to hot up the dance floor, the evening party can be either in the Marquee or in the grand staircase (and an afterparty in the vaults below!).

Then before I hit the road, it’s always nice to get a few final flash portraits of the couple, even if it’s a bit rainy outside…

How to choose the right Middleton Lodge wedding photographer?

Choosing the right photographer for your wedding starts with understanding your own style and vision. Whether you’re dreaming of a lavish event at a historic venue or a quaint ceremony in the Yorkshire countryside, the style of your wedding should resonate with the photographer’s approach. Here’s my advice to couples before making such an important decision:

  1. Reviewing portfolios is key – look for a professional photographer whose previous work aligns with the aesthetic you envision for your wedding. As you browse through Harrogate wedding photography portfolios, pay attention to how each photographer captures the story, emotions and intimate moments that make each wedding day special.
  2. Your wedding photographer is not just another vendor – They are the storyteller of your special day, responsible for capturing moments you’ll cherish forever. Therefore, a personal connection with your photographer is essential. When meeting potential photographers, consider how comfortable you feel around them. Do they put you at ease? Are they understanding of your needs and preferences? A professional photographer and good rapport and people skills will be better able to control the day and capture their vision.
  3. Prior experience at wedding venues is important but not essential – A local wedding photographer familiar with your venue, and the best photo locations, can help keep things smooth on the day. Equally, meeting a photographer at a venue new to them helps find these locations together.
  4. Professionalism is key – ensure that your chosen photographer has a reliable track record, glowing testimonials, and a clear, concise contract outlining their services.
  5. Consider your budget and what is included in the photography packages – It’s important to understand what you’re getting for your investment – number of hours covered, number of photographers, album options, and any additional services like ‘pre-wedding’ engagement shoots.

Remember that while budget is an important factor, the value of timeless memories captured beautifully shouldn’t be underestimated. As much as selecting an amazing venue, amazing wedding photography is an investment in preserving your memories of your special day for years to come…
