I seem to have been in the fine olde city of York a whole bunch over the past few months; shooting weddings, meeting pre-wedding couples and even seeing pals. It’s a stunning place and I’m getting to know my way around more and more each time I visit. And whenever I’m in a place with my camera, I like to set the scene, to help prepare the context for a story, be that the big day, or just a nice place for a pre-wedding portrait shoot.
One thing I like about visiting is that it’s a city so packed with tourists that it’s easy to get away with ‘street photography’, without folk wondering why/if you’re photographing them. They just presume you’re another tourist photographing York. Which gives you a fun degree of photographic impunity. I get the same vibe in London.
As I feel I’ve also been a bit busy this summer to post much other than weddings, I though this might make a nice ways to get back to putting more personal work up here.
So here are a few pics I’ve shot around York recently, with a street photography bent, and trying to take some slightly more unusual angles on Yorks famous sights…
Thanks for looking guys! Hope you enjoyed my tour of York!
