I had the pleasure of joining Harneet and Siddharth for three lovely wedding events last week; from their civil ceremony at Huddersfield Town Hall, to their Sikh ceremony in Huddersfield at Fartown Sikh Temple and their wedding celebrations at The Out Barn Wedding Barn near Clitheroe in Lancashire!
Sid’s from Delhi in India and Harneet from Yorkshire and these lovebirds met in Birmingham via a dating app! They survived a year apart while Harneet lived in Australia, and appear to have spent their time since bagging peaks around the UK and generally enjoying the outdoors!
It was so great to get to know them and their close family at their intimate Huddersfield town hall civil ceremony, as from that moment on I felt like one of the family!
I absolutely LOVE the energy, warmth and details I encounter shooting Indian Wedding Photography in Yorkshire!
On the day of the Sikh Ceremony, I arrived to find a cousin tying Sid’s white turban, while Harneet finished off putting on jewellery and her dupatta shawl. Everything just looked so wonderful, as Sid hid outside for their ‘first look’ where Harneet walked up and he turned to see her in all her glory. It was priceless…
I’ve personally traveled to India 6 times (including on my honeymoon) so I’m already a huge fan all things Indian! Its rich tapestry of history, culture and food make it my number one favourite place in the world to photograph. So the sights and smells surrounding all these wedding events just lit me up!
More still, it was a great honour for me to witness a Sikh ceremony in the Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Fartown – including the live shabad music, prayers and the Lavan (the four hymns of the ‘Anand Karaj’ Sikh wedding ceremony). That and the full on Indian Breakfast before and a delicious curry afterwards! Truly a feast for all the senses.
The Out Barn Wedding Barn photos near Clitheroe in Lancashire were a mad whirlwind of colour, food and dance!
Unpredictable weather didn’t dampen party spirits at the amazing Outbarn wedding Barn! Pimms and Peach Bellini’s were served on arrival with Jodpur catering serving melt in your mouth Tandoori bites and streetfood snacks (pani puri, yey)! Guests mingled and played Jenga and lawn croquet to a live guitarist, overlooking East Lancashire’s stunning landscape and Pendle Hill.
9 moving speeches later and it was back to the feasting, followed by a quick chocolate fountain break, and back to the rotunda for first dance and a live Spanish flamenco trio kicking off the evenings’ revelry! Once the sun set, DJ Signacha took over, dialled in the Bangra and the floor lit up! Old or young, it was arms in the air and dance offs galore!
Such fun. What a wedding! What a fantastic couple and a magic few days…
Bravo to Alice and the lovely staff at Out Barn and the immense Jodpur army for their outstanding service and incredible grub!
