Yesterday I joined Britta + Mike for their wonderful Spring wedding photos at Chevin Country Park near Otley, in Yorkshire!
My wife and I met this lovely pair at an NCT class pre-covid when we were both pregnant our first kids! We’ve stayed pals and seen each other’s children grow and others join our respective folds, so it was an honour and a pleasure to be asked to capture their fun-filled, family-focussed wedding!
It was also a banger of a day! As a fun way to kick things off, I joined Mike and his pals to capture them running the Chevin Forest 5k parkrun, just down the hill from their venue! Britta + Mike are Parkrun mad (like me – but actually good runners) and even named their wedding meal tables after their favourite parkrun destinations around the world!
After papping the runners scramble up the trail, I headed back to join Britta and team bride in one of the Chevin Country Park’s funky grass roof lodges in the woods. Like a load of the fun people connected to this wedding, Britta is great value! You can’t help but enjoy photographing the wedding of a drama teacher, and you couldn’t help but see her spark of creativity run throughout this celebration! Whether it was the vibrant storm of confetti, having their daughter Flo write all the table name settings, or the surprise evening band of a trio of beatboxers called Bloxed Beats who hijacked the first dance and rocked the dancefloor – everything was such fun!
It also struck what I feel is the perfect family vibe to keep a wedding day relaxed and stress-free: a wedding nanny team were employed to shepherd the kids and entertain young ones, while keeping the kids front and centre! Britta + Mike planned loads for them to do during the boring bits for kids – the reception and meal – with lawn games, bubble machines and activity books / challenges etc. It was planned perfectly, and the only thing you can’t plan for – the weather – also fell perfectly in place!
