Yesterday, we headed up into one of my favourite parts of the Yorkshire Dales, to shoot the wedding photographyfor Laura + James around a barn on a working farm!
This fun wedding reception was at Hill Top Farms, near Swinton Park in Masham and it was such an awesome setting! Preparations were held at Masham’s White Bear Hotel next to the Black Sheep, then the gang headed over to Leyburn for a ceremony at Ceremony at St Peter & Paul, before heading back over the Dales (in Hill Top Farm’s battered old Land Rover Defender called ‘Tez’) to a real working farm – full of calves & lambs – for a chilled out but fun-filled afternoon reception. Fortunately the impressively gloomy lightning bolt and heavy black rainclouds forecast held off until everyone was safely shuttered in the barn for the evening’s knees up! (Though the drive home was kinda hairy…)
My 2nd shooter Natasha & I had an absolute blast! Sometimes couples just get it right, and set a scene that sells themselves perfectly. Near and dear pitched in some incredible skills, including Laura’s mum hand making the entire wedding dress (!) and sister Alice doing all the flowers & bouquets! Laura & James told me they were also sick of ‘rubber chicken weddings’ so instead served a delicious hog roast (mmm, crackling!) paired with a local keg of Black Sheep Golden Ale – with strawberries & cream for afters and ‘Chip-n-Dales’ fish & chips in the evening for those who still had room! This is my kind of catering…
I hope you enjoy the story of their special day!
Fun wedding hey! I love how they organised it all and how much everyone enjoyed themselves on this Dalesy farm wedding in Barn!
Here’s wishing Laura + James massive congratulations and a long and happy life together!
