I recently joined Sarah + Phil for their microwedd

I recently joined Sarah + Phil for their microwedding at Woodlands Hotel and St James’ Church in Tong Village, near Leeds!

Sometimes 3 or 4 hours of wedding photography is all you need for as intimate weddings, like this one with just 15 guests.

I joined this relaxed pair - who actually met in school 27 years ago - before their ceremony for a few quiet portraits around Woodlands. They then jumped in a stunning Shelby Mustang (a replica of Eleanor from the movie ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’) and zoomed to the church where their 5 kids and a few select family members were waiting.

The ceremony by their vicar Helen was a delight - with a fun sermon about bubbles! - and after hugs, confetti (and more bubbles) we headed back to Woodlands, for a quick round of family & mingle pics, followed by a champagne toast, and as they sat to enjoy Woodlands’ delicious grub around one long table, I bid them farewell!

I’ve been doing more and more short wedding coverage like these, and it’s great to provide lovely wedding pics in just 3-6 hours, without photos dominating an intimate day.

Yesterday I joined Susan & Andrew for their fabulo

Yesterday I joined Susan & Andrew for their fabulous wedding at Tupgill Park, in Yorkshire’s beautiful Wensleydale!

I’ve only visited in the past for the forbidden corner, but there’s so much more on wedding side of it! Tonnes of stunning accommodation, an incredible country house with lawns overlooking the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, an amazing timber Bell Barn for the ceremony and meal and incredible grounds and lakes to wander in for pics!

Susan & Andrew threw a beautiful, family-focused wedding with generations from great, great grandmas all the way down to newborns! While the Dalesy weather was that classic ‘all seasons in a day’ it didn’t dampen proceedings (especially with singing waiters whipping everything into chaos!).

What a joy to photograph Karla & Bethan’s incredible celebration at Samlesbury Hall near Preston in Lancashire! ❤️🏳️‍🌈

After meeting on Tinder in 2019, a spontaneous trip to Borneo sparked their love. Their dream beach wedding in Thailand last year took an unexpected turn when Bethan suddenly lost sight in one eye, meaning much of the trip was spent in hospital. They still married in a Thai registry office, and this weekend was the chance to celebrate properly with all their favourite people back home in Lancashire.

From emotional family reactions to their surprise matching suits, a beautiful blessing by Bethan’s mum, sunshine, confetti, ice cream, lawn games, golden hour portraits and an epic evening of live music, it was such a special day to be part of.
Huge congratulations, you two! 🥂

A microwedding needn’t be anything less than AWE

A microwedding needn’t be anything less than AWESOME (or should that be PAWSOME?!) > as demonstrated by Charl, Danny and their fur baby Opal the other week!

Already married on an exotic beach a week or so before, I joined them for their celebrations at Bowcliffe Hall (@bowcliffehall) for just 5 hours, diving straight into sunny lawn games outside the stylish Drivers Club. Before the majority of guests arrived, we did a quick round of group pics and portraits, followed by champagne, cocktails and cute cuddles! All to the dulcet sounds of live singer Nath Brooks.

After a few casual speeches, a tunnel of confetti led the gang down to the funky Blackburn Wing (designed in the shape of an actual plane wing!) for nibbles and an almighty knees up! I just had time to flash a few final photos before leaving them to the party.

As the groom is the brother of the lovely Bowcliffe co-ordinator Becky (who was there, off duty with her lovely fam), Bowcliffe’s ace staff got stuck in playing games with the kids and generally being their lovely selves!

As it was a microwedding, we didn’t do a pre-wedding practice shoot to get the couples loosened up ahead of the wedding. But it made no difference as these guys (helped massively by their stunning cockapoo!) smashed it out the park with a frankly adorable set of couple shots!

Last weekend I joined Vickie (@vickter.ping) + Ricky for their wedding at @wharfedaleGrange, a brilliantly boutique barn venue between Harewood & Harrogate in Yorkshire.

I knew when I met these guys we were a match! Vickie has a wicked sense of humour, they have a cuuuuute pooch and as a pair they’re quick to laugh! All a win for me…

What they’re not quick at is getting married! They’ve been engaged for no less than 27 years! (after meeting at the infamous Leeds pub the Chained Bull – an old haunt of mine!)

But that relaxed vibe showed itself as a great flavour at the wedding, which was chilled and chock full of fun*
*Read: Booze!

After the boys and their Schnauzer Molly had donned buttonholes in the farmhouse I joined the girls to gown up (and do a few final dumbell curls!) we headed down to the ceremony in the North Barn. Out through a hail of confetti the newlyweds emerged for fizz, delicious canapés and a quick groups in front of Wharfedales rolling hills and meadows.

After hilarious speeches (& a fun poem from pal Sarah), a delicious wedding breakfast was served in the South Barn, followed by a surprise Singing Waiter! Once everyone had caught their breath from conga lines and waving napkins to That’s Amore, it was back out for cocktail hour! Pornstar or Espresso, that is the question?!

Before we knew it it was time to cut the cake, do a dancefloor groupshot have a boogie to ‘Walking on Sunshine’ with confetti cannons blasting…

It was fab to join this lovely pair (and Molly!) and fab to be back at Wharfedale Grange (props to Camilla & Emma for all their hard graft in the background).

Yesterday I joined Sophie & Sam for their EPIC wed

Yesterday I joined Sophie & Sam for their EPIC wedding at Riverland Wedding Barns near Goole in East Yorkshire - arguably my new favourite venue in all of Yorkshire!

Not only was everything about the barns perfectly styled and planned for a relaxed, funky wedding, but this couple and their fam and friends were just a delight to be around. (I shot Sophie’s sister Pip’s wedding a few years back and it was so good to see everyone again!).

This creative, musical couple (and their army of planners and helpers) thought of everything; from Pip taking on the role of Celebrant (& brownie baker!), a best pal being ‘Mistress of Ceremonies’ (according to Dad’s description anyway!) and Sam’s brother and pro singer bridesmaid leading guests in singing Africa by Toto to end the blessing!

Details (& The BBQ Diner!) were a delight - from homemade lawn games to the epic mountain of brownies! Their little one year old Amelia was front and centre enjoying all the shenanigans, and the Kyler & Kate from Riverlands ran everything with a professional chilled precision. (They even got involved in ‘the peg game’ where guests secretly clipped clothes pegs on each other and I’m still finding them hanging off my camera bag!)

My wingman Paul Stott and I had a blast with this fab crowd, and can’t wait to share more pics soon. But in the meantime, enjoy this frankly brilliant day at this fab venue!
