Cockley Wood Weddings: a seriously cool venue for a family-friendly party in the woods overlooking Wakefield
This pair of high school sweethearts have been together for over 18 years! Apparently, Aidan jokingly proposed every year throughout their relationship, but it wasn’t until it was the arrival of their lovely little daughter that a wedding was spurred into action, for ‘the official completion of their family’.
After chilled morning preparations at an AirBnB & pub garden, my wingman Martyn Hand and I headed to Cockley Woods for the first time!

Celebrant (and Master of Ceremonies extraordinare) Melody conducted a beautiful wedding blessing under the canopy, before a hail of confetti & chilled reception filled with fizz and Jimmy Macks BBQ nibbles around an open fire.
After a round of quick family groups and portraits around the beautiful woodland paths, it was time for a BBQ feast and fun speeches. In the evening we were blessed by golden sunlight so dived into a nearby field for golden hour pics before cutting the cake and cutting loose on the dancefloor!
Stylistic Note: The newlyweds chose not to feature photos of their daughter here, so this is a slightly condensed post (as she was in every other photo!)
Chloe, her team did a fab job of keeping things light and fun, and the catering was insane! I do love shooting funky barn and unique wedding venues around Yorkshire and it’s always exciting to visit a funky new venue!
