Wedding photos at Yorkshire Wedding Barn near Richmond: Simona + Patrick

Let me show you Simona & Patrick’s frankly fantastic wedding photos at Yorkshire Wedding Barn near Richmond in Yorkshire last weekend…

Nestled in the Yorkshire Dales ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, these funky Yorkshire Barns are just THE perfect place to party! Couples get to choose between the Lake Barn, the Wedding Barn or the great outdoors for their on-site ceremony.

Simona & Patrick rolled the dice on a potentially dodgy forecast and went for the outdoor ceremony… and they WON! After my mornings preps with the girls in the Lake Barn and my wingman Paul Stott’s morning with the guys in the Water Villa, the sun shone and surrounding valley views made for a stunning backdrop!

It’s not the first time I’ve joined this family for a wedding, as I photographed Simona’s brother’s wedding back in 2016! So it was fab to catch up with lots of familiar faces and family, and enjoy a shot of limoncello with the Italians!

On top of being at such a fab venue, there was just so much to love about this amazing day: Simona’s magnificent bohemian wedding dress (and white cowgirl boots!)… the groom joining the bluegrass band to sing Toy Story’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ in the evening… the outdoor ceremony in a sea of stunning flora… Mum’s cute white dog… a confetti tunnel accompanied by live sax playing a famous Ibiza anthem… Italian wedding traditions like shouting ‘Bacio, bacio!!’ to demand mealtime kisses from random couples or the evening cutting and auctioning of the grooms tie before first dance…

Pour on Limoncello, Amaro and Simone’s brother Marco’s delicious ‘Two Rocks Brewing Co. Pale Ale’ (a nod to the two rocks of the Cow & Calf in Ilkley) and this wedding was well fuelled for fun! And I love how these cool cats just picked the traditions they fancied and dispensed with the rest; making it both high energy, chilled and a blast to be part of start to finish!

And after singing and dancing were well underway, the golden evening sun came back out! So, cowboy boots on and dress over arm, the newlyweds and I dived into a nearby cornfield for a few final golden hour portraits!

I posted them back to the party and hit the road, a little envious of all the fun lodgings guests were staying in (from a converted Dairy, to Shepherd’s huts, to a floating boat house on the lake and farmhouses with hot tubs…); no one needs to end early or head home at the end of the night here!

I love shooting weddings in Yorkshire and this was the second time I’ve now shot at ‘The Barn’ and it was great to be back!
