It was so lovely to both get them used to the shoot process and bag a few fun family photos for them! Can't wait for their wedding at @theriverlands in May

ps. I also do relaxed family photoshoots
Last Friday I was on a secret mission to photograp Last Friday I was on a secret mission to photograph a proposal of Obert to his partner Chim at Farmer Copleys (@farmercopleys) Tulip Festival on Ravensknowle Farm near Pontefract!

We concocted a plan to meet at the Tulip Fields (as though I was a photographer who works there) to do a portrait photoshoot. Before they arrived I scouted the space for the perfect spot to propose, and gave Obert a clue where that’d be as he slipped me the ring box with a spare pair of shoes! 💍

Off we went for a few pics, and a wink from Obert and I positioned Chim to stand in front of him looking towards the background… then he dropped to one knee! I could only just hear his lovely proposal and she screamed and welled up! 😭

What a moment to be part of! An absolute delight. Then we went back to the car, fixed teary makeup, swapped outfits and went again for another shoot as fiancees! 📷

It’s such a pleasure to do this kind of thing, so nice to be part of someone’s beautifully planned engagement and what a location to do it, in this vibrant sea of coloured Tulips! 💐
On Saturday I joined Olivia + James for their wedd On Saturday I joined Olivia + James for their wedding photography at Bowcliffe Hall, Yorkshires best kept secret country house (hidden in Bramham, between Leeds and Wetherby)

This lovely pair are legit high school sweethearts! They met when they were 12, started dating at 15 and over the past decade having gone through exams and driving tests and now live in Bramhope with their rescue lurcher pooch Pippa! (Sadly the combination of white dresses and jumpiness meant Pip didn’t join us though).

My wingman Paul Stott joined James and Team Groom (to watch them figure the Windsor knot!) in the Drivers Club while I captured Olivia get into her stunning high-necked, long-sleeved gown! After an emotional dad reveal said mum it’s the first time she’s seen dad speechless!

After an elegant ceremony under a huge floral arch in Bowcliffe’s former dining room, we headed outside for congratulatory cuddles. Spitty Spring weather almost called play, but minutes later the sun was shining over our confetti tunnel! This was followed by my first blessing in Bowcliffe Hall’s tiny chapel!

A few portraits in the lovely gardens and we were back with guests enjoying nibbles, fizz and Jenga. After the meal singing waiters whipped the room into chaotic conga lines and sing alongs! Aftere speeches we hit the Blackburn Wing (shaped like an actual wing!) to cut the dog topped cake and dance the night away!

It was such a wonderful day and was great as always to work with Becky, Molly and the amazing Bowcliffe team.

I give you Kirsty & Gareth (garethp91): yesterday’s wedding delight in The Coach House at The Manor House in Lindley!

What a perfect relaxed day this turned out to be! It was such fun to hang with Kirsty and her girls in the Manor House’s epic bridal suites while my wingman Andy Matherson joined Gareth and the chaps on the other side of Hudds. My fave part of the day was possibly the touching dad daughter first look, followed closely by the aisle confetti shower / Gareth’s lovely motormouth 10yr old daughter Grace! All of great photographic value!

Kirsty & Gareth freely admit to not loving having their photos taken, but were great sports and a lovely energy to be around. They wanted a relaxed day with family and friends, and in this classy backdrop (with an awesome wedding dress), that’s exactly what they got! A fun pair and a fun day. Simples! !)

Love you guys for trusting and spewing me do my thing! Congratulations again, Barnaby 📷

On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me… THE BIG REVEAL!

Some moments at weddings have latent electricity and are just a joy to capture. Once the bride has got through the often slightly stressful gowning up, and the clock starts ticking down to go time, it's fun to get dad behind the door, and set the groundwork for a bit of magic...

I don't want to stage it, I just want to 'set the stage' for whatever could come. Some dad's cry... some bride cry... bridesmaids & mum's start flapping hands and looking at the ceiling. (I'm not sure the makeup artists always thank me for it!)

There's micro moments going on everywhere, and I'm often torn where to look myself as a tear wells in my viewfinder. But as a dad of a daughter now, I often fleetingly wonder what it'll be like for this to be me, one day. My little 2 year old girl, in a white gown that essentially says they're moving into a lifelong commitment with another significant man... It's pretty seismic, and can crack even the coldest stone of a dad!

Sometimes a bride gets ready away from bridesmaids and there's a reveal opportunity with them. Other times, Dad's sadly no longer with us and a son / nephew step up emotionally (and in a case this year, as a surprise to the bride had her dads cufflinks and tie pin on)

Occasionally, a couple opt for a non-traditional but often super lovely 'first look', where once everyone's gone in, the groom waits somewhere for 5 minutes with his bride before the ceremony and it's also an electric sequence that's super lovely to capture.

Anyhoo! I wax too lyrically, take a look at these lovely big reveal / first look moments from the fab weddings of 2025!
