'Glamping' in Northumberland // Castles & White Sands [by Barnaby Aldrick Photography]

I almost totally forgot to blog about this! Just before the wedding season kicked off, Clare & I decided to take our lovely new dog Kyra on her first holiday! So off we set to Northumberland, with Kyra keeping her eye out for oncoming danger. Clare had looked up ‘Glamping’ online for a spot of […]

Yesterday I joined Sam & Jen in Central York for t Yesterday I joined Sam & Jen in Central York for their delightful ‘Micro-Wedding’! 👰🏼👰🏼

These guys are such fun; and hardly stopped laughing! How they met trots the globe, as Jen’s originally from Pensilvania in the States, but schooled in the UK, and they met through a nerdy book forum while Sam was in Belgium! Their first date was at The Grand Hotel in York (hence getting ready there) before eating at the Ivy (hence a portrait outside it)! 👭

5 years later, they live happily in East Yorkshire with their cats Brutus & Spartacus! 🐾

As proud members of the gay community they love that the grand ol’York Minster has made significant public steps in welcoming and affirming same-sex couples, especially since the 2015 Pride blessing. On our lap of central York’s funky sports for portraits, we also stopped outside ‘This Shop Is So Gay’, as it made for the perfect background (and even sold Yorkshire LGB tea cups)! 🏳️‍🌈

Sam’s the creative of the duo (if you lose her, she’s usually found in Hobbycraft!). She made the amazing Autumnal bouquets and buttonholes, with nods to Jen’s lego obsession by featuring cute medieval Lego characters in each! 💐

I do love the super-intimate nature of a Micro-Weddings - in this case with just 2 guests: Sam’s Mum & Dad! From joining them for a quiet exchange of cards (which, as usual, Jen forgot to take the price tag off!) to a quiet champagne toast, a relaxed walkabout and a tiny civil ceremony followed by a tiny toss of Confetti - it was all such a blast! 🎉

Here’s wishing this lovely pair (and their Roman Cats) all the happiness in the world! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
It was fab to be back at a wonderfully autumnal Mi It was fab to be back at a wonderfully autumnal Middleton Lodge Estate yesterday with Anne (@annie1wain) and Stuart!

Together for 12 years, this adorable pair decided to tie the knot on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. They hired the entire estate so they could rock two distinct vibes; an elegant ceremony in the Main House, then a meal and party shenanigans in the Fig House Walled Garden.

I joined the girls for relaxed preparations in the beautiful Oak Room while my wingman Paul hung with groomsmen in the Billiard Room. It was lovely how younger members of the family were involved; cousins doing readings and Stu’s 19-year-old son Elis taking on best man duties, bearing rings and smashing his speech, while Anne was given away by her nephew OJ (who had a lovely emotional moment during the bridal reveal reminiscing about Anne’s parents).

The sweeping staircase, overflowing with Leafy Couture’s white florals, is the perfect dramatic space for a ceremony, accompanied by live piano. It was just lovely to see these two tie the knot before heading outside for congratulatory cuddles and my signature confetti bomb! Then after quick group pics and portraits around the autumnal grounds and some fun mingling with their entertaining guests, we headed over to the Fig House for a few super-orange seasonal portraits in the walled gardens (with Anne donning her fab matching Jesus Peiro bridal jacket).

It’s the first time I’ve seen The Function Band do their thing and WOW, what slick wedding entertainment! They welcomed guests into the Autumnal wedding breakfast, playing from lit podiums - and had people dancing from the moment they arrived. Popping in between courses to stir the crowd into another dancing frenzy, they absolutely smashed it and had the floor bouncing from first till last dance!

All the suppliers brought such a classy game to this incredible wedding, knitted together supremely by Middleton Lodge’s coordinator Rhiannon and planner extraordinaire Lianne from Blonde Army. Days like this don’t just seamlessly fall together without these guys!

Huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Broadbelt! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio).
Hey hey hey! How’s life out there? As Autumn d Hey hey hey! How’s life out there?

As Autumn draws in and the mist clears on a hectic summer’s wedding workload, I thought I’d draw a bit of attention to Google Reviews!

Google Reviews can’t be faked (or written by me or my mum!) so I’ve long championed them on my website as a great qualifier of what I actually bring to the table, day in day out. Happy words from happy punters are what I do this for…

So let’s kick off with a few choice words from Emily & Owain’s fab wedding at East Riddlesden Hall near Keighley, earlier this summer:

See slide 2 of the carousel: “Wholesome, thoughtful, friendly… couldn’t be happier!” Music to my ears! 🥰

Big thanks to the new Mr & Mrs Prys-Jones for these kind words - which are only part of their full review. Use the ‘Reviews’ link in bio to head over to Trust Index to view the full review!

Ps. If you were a guest at their wedding, I’ve turned on a 50% discount code on all pics in their client gallery as a thank you!

Yesterday I enjoyed my first wedding at New Craven Yesterday I enjoyed my first wedding at New Craven Hall in Leeds - in the bluster of Storm Amy - for the Autumnal nuptials of rock lovin’ Grace & Timmy - 13 years and a day from the day they started dating!

I kicked off morning preps with a fun Team Groom, in drizzly Horsforth with their cats Ozzy and Sharon. Then I zoomed into town to join Team Bride in a grand suite on the 9th floor of the swanky Dakota hotel in central Leeds.

A slight hiccup with the wedding car breaking down meant Timmy was left to sweat at the end of aisle; almost opting to marry one of his groomsman. But once team bride were safely bundled under brollies through the storm, both mum and dad walked Grace down the candle-lit aisle to ‘Run’ by Snow Patrol. From their Autumnal orange and maroon bouquets, magnificent floral arch, to the bridesmaids / ‘bridesman’ scheme, everything complemented natures fireworks of the changing season.

Tattoo’d and beard-centric guests proved great value, doing shots and loving the Photo Booth, and we thankfully managed to get some awesome wedding party pics out against nearby urban mural backdrops!

After touching speeches from the usual suspects and mum and the bride, self-serve wood-fired pizza was the order of the day (followed by an immense table of cake and dessert!) Before we knew it, their pop punk/metal band 5K! lit up the dancefloor and had the floor jumpin’ & moshin’ the rest of the night!

It was ace to visit a funky venue, so close to home. Jane, Ben & their team did a sterling job keeping things running and chill and making me feel so welcome!

So here’s wishing the new Mr and Mrs Wilkinson huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day w Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day with Pippa, Craig and their little lamb Isabel at their wedding at Danby Castle Barn, out in the stunning North York Moors heading out Whitby-way! 🏰

After a beaut of a drive through misty vales and valley vistas, I arrived at these isolated barns nestled within the ruins of an ancient castle, and the weather just perked up and up! Oh man, what a site for enjoying God’s Own County! ☀️

Everything about the day - from the venue, the company to the suppliers and details - was bang on for a relaxed celebration! Pippa and Craig are adorable together, especially in their hands-on dual dedication to their little 5 month old (who, with 3 outfit changes, they dubbed ‘BABYZILLA!’). 👶🏼

In the morning I skipped between the bridefolk (with a gent of honour) in the house and groomsfolk (also starring a lady person of honour) in the Threshing Barn - and very much enjoyed the banter at each! Their ceremony upstairs in The Courtroom was lovely, literally passing the baby to pop rings on one another, before processing out to a string rendition of the Jurassic Park theme! 🦖

A shower of confetti and a few group pics around the ruins and it was all about soaking up the sun and throwing axes! Yep - I don’t think there’s enough axe throwing at weddings either! Culminating with a heavy metal Axe Off between the highest scorers and the bride and groom, and the winner got to spray champagne F1 podium style over an unsuspecting crowd! Brilliant craic. 🪓

Yorkshire pie and mash was served in the barn, followed by charming speeches. Then after a few flash pics around the ruins, it was time to hit the dance floor and party! 🥳

I loved everything about this wedding. A chill couple, very much in love, involving their little one throughout and letting me do my thing - asking me to focus on capturing the fun rather than extended portrait shoots - and it was a hoot. Big high 5’s to the team at Danby Castle too, for running everything so smoothly in the background and making me feel so welcome ♥️

So here’s wishing the new Mr and Mrs Millward huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio) 📷
Yesterday I joined Katie & Lloyd for their wedding Yesterday I joined Katie & Lloyd for their wedding celebrations at The Mansion in Roundhay Park in Leeds!

This cute pair met just down the road from their venue, working together at the Roundhay Fox - and have been inseparable ever since! They’re such a cute pair, and the wedding was a real charmer.

I joined Lloyd and his chaps at their lego-filled home in Roundhay for more semi nude ironing than I’d expected, then headed to The Mansion to join Katie’s bridal shenanigans, which included not just a sweet little flower girl called Edith, but a bridesmaid with 11 week old babe in arms! And once Katie got into her dress, she only then discovered it had pockets! Which made her day!

After chilled preps, a beautiful ceremony and a confetti tunnel, the day became a relaxed (and thankfully rainless) affair, with trees (and weather) starting to feel real autumnal. Everything went smoothly, thanks to Liam and the professional team at the Mansion, and after a delicious dinner by Dine, it was suddenly time cut the stunning cake and boogie on down to the Manhattan Band!

So here’s wishing the new Mr & Mrs Thompson huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio)
