Tracey + Matt’s Pre-Wedding Practice Photography at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds – by Yorkshire Wedding Photographer Barnaby Aldrick

I recently joined Tracey & Matt for their pre-wedding practice shoot at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds, ahead of their wedding next weekend at Middleton Lodge near Richmond It was great to catch up on the big day plans, and take a wander around Kirkstall Abbey with them both in the sunshine. These shoots are all […]

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day w Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day with Pippa, Craig and their little lamb Isabel at their wedding at Danby Castle Barn, out in the stunning North York Moors heading out Whitby-way! 🏰

After a beaut of a drive through misty vales and valley vistas, I arrived at these isolated barns nestled within the ruins of an ancient castle, and the weather just perked up and up! Oh man, what a site for enjoying God’s Own County! ☀️

Everything about the day - from the venue, the company to the suppliers and details - was bang on for a relaxed celebration! Pippa and Craig are adorable together, especially in their hands-on dual dedication to their little 5 month old (who, with 3 outfit changes, they dubbed ‘BABYZILLA!’). 👶🏼

In the morning I skipped between the bridefolk (with a gent of honour) in the house and groomsfolk (also starring a lady person of honour) in the Threshing Barn - and very much enjoyed the banter at each! Their ceremony upstairs in The Courtroom was lovely, literally passing the baby to pop rings on one another, before processing out to a string rendition of the Jurassic Park theme! 🦖

A shower of confetti and a few group pics around the ruins and it was all about soaking up the sun and throwing axes! Yep - I don’t think there’s enough axe throwing at weddings either! Culminating with a heavy metal Axe Off between the highest scorers and the bride and groom, and the winner got to spray champagne F1 podium style over an unsuspecting crowd! Brilliant craic. 🪓

Yorkshire pie and mash was served in the barn, followed by charming speeches. Then after a few flash pics around the ruins, it was time to hit the dance floor and party! 🥳

I loved everything about this wedding. A chill couple, very much in love, involving their little one throughout and letting me do my thing - asking me to focus on capturing the fun rather than extended portrait shoots - and it was a hoot. Big high 5’s to the team at Danby Castle too, for running everything so smoothly in the background and making me feel so welcome ♥️

So here’s wishing the new Mr and Mrs Millward huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio) 📷
Yesterday I joined Katie & Lloyd for their wedding Yesterday I joined Katie & Lloyd for their wedding celebrations at The Mansion in Roundhay Park in Leeds!

This cute pair met just down the road from their venue, working together at the Roundhay Fox - and have been inseparable ever since! They’re such a cute pair, and the wedding was a real charmer.

I joined Lloyd and his chaps at their lego-filled home in Roundhay for more semi nude ironing than I’d expected, then headed to The Mansion to join Katie’s bridal shenanigans, which included not just a sweet little flower girl called Edith, but a bridesmaid with 11 week old babe in arms! And once Katie got into her dress, she only then discovered it had pockets! Which made her day!

After chilled preps, a beautiful ceremony and a confetti tunnel, the day became a relaxed (and thankfully rainless) affair, with trees (and weather) starting to feel real autumnal. Everything went smoothly, thanks to Liam and the professional team at the Mansion, and after a delicious dinner by Dine, it was suddenly time cut the stunning cake and boogie on down to the Manhattan Band!

So here’s wishing the new Mr & Mrs Thompson huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio)

Yesterday joined Emily & Owain at East Riddlesden Yesterday joined Emily & Owain at East Riddlesden Hall near Keighley in West Yorkshire!

This lovely pair actually married almost a year ago and this is third of their glob-trotting wedding celebrations! Emily has Canadian / Chinese roots and Owain has Welsh / Scottish heritage, so various cultural traditions were integrated! They started with The Greeting in red Chinese outfits, before slipping into white dress and tartan kilt. Plus Scottish Tablet cake was brought by guests - made almost entirely of sugar - to keep energy levels up for the evening’s dancing!

The stars of the show were their nearly 1 year old wee lad Berwyn - who spent the day merrily being passed around in his mini kilt getup (fortunately with nappy and not True Scott) - and Dad’s cute pooch Maxi, who took the cuddles and abuse from the kids in their stride.

A relaxed affair, most traditions were dropped, and we did family and couple pics pre-ceremony. The blessing itself was hosted by the groom’s brother David, where 6 pals were invited up to offer fun speeches about the happy couple. After the confetti tunnel there was a lovely long afternoon of refreshment from at funky cocktail and global nibbly stands. Speeches were dropped for off the quick cuff thank yous, before everyone settled along long social tables for a delicious carve your own roast Welsh lamb and a mezze feast from Nomad Catering!

Their mountain cake was cut for dessert and instead of a first dance then the Ceilidh band spun guests into coupley spirals and do-si-do carnage! The weather had loomed ominously all day, but thankfully held when we needed it to, and before I hit the road I took advantage of drizzle for a few funky quick back-flash snogs in the rain!

So here’s wishing the new Mr & Mrs Prys-Jones huge congratulations! Stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon (link in bio)

I give you Charlotte & Steve, another beauty of a I give you Charlotte & Steve, another beauty of a wedding at Goldsborough Hall near Knaresborough!

These lovebirds met at an IT company and kicked off their romance with a trip to an Oak furniture store and a trip to McDonalds! Their romance blossomed through the pandemic, engagement followed and following that, Charlotte went full steam at the wedding planning, to the point that she took a course in calligraphy to hand scribe the table place settings (and quite brilliantly done too!).

After a relaxed morning of preps in Harrogate and at the Hall, they held their gorgeous ceremony in the drawing room, and followed it with my signature ‘confetti bomb’ and a few groups on hall steps and pics around the kitchen gardens and grounds. It was great to see everyone enjoying a croquet-centric reception in the sun with fizz and canapés!

Not conforming with traditions, they did a single thank you speech before their roast dinner, then cut their stunning cake, and instead an ‘awkward first dance shuffle’ they convinced everyone to pile on together in a mass first dance (supported with full energy from their pal Craig!)

As a sunny afternoon turned overcast, hopes for golden hour sunset pics were dashed, but instead we captured a few cracking flash pics in the blue hour before I departed!

What a cracking day! Here’s wishing the new Mr + Mrs Westcott the huge congrats! I hope you all enjoy this ‘mini blog’ of teasers for now and stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog soon at: www.barnabyaldrick.com/bawp-blog/

Yesterday’s lovely couple were Lillian (@lill_i_ Yesterday’s lovely couple were Lillian (@lill_i_am_17) + Alan, who wed outside, under Yorkshire skies, at the beautiful Goldsborough Hall near Knaresborough!

This lovely pair met at Oxford uni and the wedding was a wonderful meeting of the clans from up and down the land. Alan’s Scottish lot sported an amazing array of kilts, complimenting Team Groom’s ace Ben Lomond Tartan and ace ‘flyplaid’ shoulder tartan. Team bride held up their side beautifully too, with Lillian in a stunning Adriana Alier gown with bridesmaids in powder blue!

After a fab outdoor ceremony, confetti tunnel and a quick group pics, the reception was a lovely relaxed affair, with endless fizz and canapés around the stunning floral backdrops of Goldsborough Hall. A quick round of couple pics in the Kitchen Garden, gazebo and through the woods, and it was time for hilarious speeches and a delicious beef dinner in Goldsborough’s Orangery!

Soon it was first dance time, followed by a fun dance routine from Team Bride and a huge knees up on the dance floor! These guys knew how to dance and were pogo-ing hard to Scottish anthems as we did a few final night flash pics!

Huge Congratulations to the new Mr + Mrs Barth! Enjoy this ‘mini blog’ of teasers for now and stay tuned for a full extended post on my blog later this week: www.barnabyaldrick.com/bawp-blog/
