Yesterday I joined Lucy & Daniel for their wedding photos at The Priests House near Skipton – a fabulous Grade I listed wedding venue nestled in the shadow of the impressive ruins of Barden Tower, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
I joined Lucy, her sis, mum and special uncle for their bridal preparations at Meadowcroft, a lovely holiday let in Beamsley (just down the hill from where I proposed to my wife!).
My wingman Paul joined the boys in nearby Embsay for their relaxed morning with Daniel’s dad, brother and a pair of cool page boys.
The weather had been throwing all manner of Yorkshire options at us, but the bride arrived in sunshine and it stayed clear from then on! Must be the sausages they buried!
The Priests House wedding photography near Skipton
The Priests House sits between Bolton Abbey and Burnsall, beside the historic ruins of Barden Tower. This wonderfully atmospheric wedding venue, with its historic stone buildings, charming Old Chapel and beautiful views across Wharfedale, is a cracking spot for a Yorkshire Dales wedding.
Barden Tower is a dramatic medieval ruin right next to the venue, providing a fantastic backdrop for wedding photographs. The Oak Room and Old Chapel are full of character, making The Priests House a particularly memorable setting for an intimate wedding.

The major strength of this venue, though, is the wonderful Wharfedale vistas across the rolling valleys! Eee, by gum, makes ye proud to be in Yorkshire…
Lucy clearly likes a bit of wedding tradition, with the guys in tails and faces covered by veils (which is so nice to see)!
The ceremony chapel, decked out with hundreds of candles, glowed and looked so charming.
They’d even collected glass bells for guests to ring as they sent the newlyweds off into married life!
Then it was a quick run of confetti and formals before heading back to mingle with their mates, accompanied by a duo rocking out in the Oak Room.
Before long, it was back into the chapel for a lovely roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and some fun speeches.
Daniel honoured their dear cat – the other love of Lucy’s life – with a lovely tribute, and they even included some of the cat’s whiskers in her bouquet!
Soon it was time to cut the cake and toss the bouquet, before their most excellent DJ pal fired up A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay and we left the gang to party into the evening!
All in all… a most excellent Yorkshire wedding!
