Yesterday, we joined Alison + Laith for their wedding photography at Carlton Towers – a breathtaking venue nestled in the village of Carlton, near Goole in East Yorkshire!
In all the decade I’ve photographed weddings around Yorkshire I’m surprised I’ve never photographed at this incredible place! It’s like Yorkshire’s answer to Downton Abbey! The place was designed by the famous architect and designer of Neo-Gothic architecture Edward Welby Pugin. It stands in a 250 acre estate and is still lived in and run, by Lord Gerald Fitzalan-Howard and his family.
But the thing that made this wedding so lovely was the chilled out – and very witty – pair at the hear of the proceedings, Alison + Laith. They really were a fun pair to be around, a pair of very intelligent Doctor/Surgeons, very much in love and really fun together. Instead of hiring a wedding chauffeur, Laith decided he wanted to drive his dudes over from their preparations at his folks house to Carlton in an Aston Martin Rapide Sport he’d hired, and this proved a fab idea and a fun focal point for the men of the wedding to look at and in, like they knew how engines worked and such. Fun times.
Plus, after a fun morning, a tearful ceremony, and sunny reception; there was plenty of time for mingling, a few golden hour portraits and a quite amazing foxtrot first dance!
Here are my faves from the day…
Fab day hey! And what an amazing location for a wedding!
So here’s wishing Alison + Laith a very happy life together and a fab honeymoon in Canada!
