Ripley Castle: a beautiful and ancient castle wedding venue in the heart of North Yorkshire!

Weddings at Ripley Castle are a memorable affair!

This enchanting, Grade I listed Country home is the most quintessentially Castle-like venue I’ve probably ever photographed at!

Whatever the season, this is a truly stunning North Yorkshire wedding venue! Not only is overflowing with history and culture, green spaces and grand rooms, but it’s easy to get to, between Harrogate and Ripon!

With its picturesque castle and popular ice-cream shop, Ripley has been crowned North Yorkshire’s best village to live in.

Many of the weddings I’ve photographed here choose to get ready in the lovely Boar’s Head hotel (which is also a lovely gastro pub!)…

Wedding ceremonies can be held in 3 locations, in the ancient All Saint’s Church, upstairs in the East Wing, or in one of the amazing wood lined walls of the castle itself.

Any of the spots work to make a magical confetti moment!

Then as guests enjoy a glass of fizz and (usually typically Yorkshire themed) canapes, I like to take the couple for a quick lap of the amazing locations for portraits!

Come evening time, the castle also lends lots of lovely opportunities for amazing shots, before and after the dancing has started!

At our pre-wedding shoot he was great at getting us to feel comfortable in front of the camera (not an easy task), and we left the pre-shoot feeling confident about the running of the day and that Barnaby had a good understanding of the moments we were hoping to capture. On the day itself Barnaby was a huge help in getting things to run smoothly, making sure we had the right people in the right place to get the shots that we wanted. He was great with our children and got some fantastic shots of the kids having fun, in addition to some beautiful family shots and candid moments throughout the day. We are thrilled with the photos that we have got back, and the turnaround time was quicker than expected which was an added bonus. We cannot recommend Barnaby enough, we thought that the pre wedding photo shoot was great but the photos we've had back on the wedding blog have not only captured every detail of our day but the whole vibe and emotions. We cannot believe how we never even saw you taking most of these.  There are so many wonderful natural shots. As a couple who don't normally like to be photographed you put us at ease and captured us having a brilliant day, as well as getting all the formal shots we asked for. He took so many photos, especially of things we would never have thought of and put them together in a digital album, that was fantastic. He put my daughter and everyone else at ease, we didn’t know he was there half the time. The photos were beyond our expectations.
