Fountains Abbey – a stunning ancient wedding venue in the heart of Yorkshire!

Weddings at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal are quite the affair! I mean, how often do you get the opportunity to get married in a World Heritage site!?

Set in a stunning North Yorkshire wedding location, near Ripon, Fountains Abbey is overflowing with history and culture, green spaces and grand rooms – the perfect location for a truly memorable day!

I’ve photographed many beautiful weddings ceremonies in the gorgeous Fountains Hall

Small, intimate weddings can be hosted in the wood-panelled Oak Room, on the ground floor of Fountains Hall.

Heading down the stairs and out in front of fountains hall is a great location for confetti and a quick round of group photos!

Then it’s a hop skip and a jump to the private walled garden and summer house for celebratory drinks and canapés, overlooking the River Skell.

There are also opportunities in here for team photos with the wedding party

It’s around this time that I’d take a couple into the ancient and dramatic ruins of Fountains Abbey or the wide views of the water garden with its follies and statues as a back drop.

After this, couples either host their meal in Fountains Hall, or up at the activity centre at the Abbey entrance, and dance the night away!
