Check out Catherine & Peter’s wonderful wedding at Ripon Cathedral and The Owl Barn at Little Seed Field in Yorkshire!
What I love about weddings are the imaginative ideas couples put together, to make their wedding represent their personalities!
For example, the day before I joined them this fun pair chose to have a pie & pea party at Whitaker’s Gin distillery (a piss-up in a brewery… what could go wrong!?)!
Then the day I joined them, was a high-anglican wedding ceremony in one of Yorkshire’s largest cathedrals, followed by a cocktails, jazz and curry at a working farm!
I just loved the contrast of ideas that made up this wedding!
It was a stunning drive through Nidderdale’s ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ to join the family preparations at their lovely home at Glasshouses Mill. Then I headed to Ripon to find the chaps sauntering through Market Square toward the cathedral after catching the Rugby in the pub!
Shooting wedding photos in Ripon Cathedral is something to behold!
The Cathedral – which dates all the way back to 660AD – made for a mind blowing backdrop for the nuptuals! And even in this solemn location, they funked it up by having the organ master play a rendition of ‘Dancing Queen’ for Catharine to walk down the aisle to!
After an amazing ‘confetti bomb’ outside the cathedral frontage we heaed to Little Seed Field farm, where silly sunglasses and endless multipacks of crisps were ready to be abused!
The Owl Barn at Little Seed Field is the perfect rustic Yorkshire wedding venue surrounded by nature, with a tonne of Glamping options!
It wasn’t long before everyone was enjoying Peacock Roadshow’s delicious Gujurat Indian Streetfood! These guys skipped most wedding traditions bar a few words from Catharine and raising a glass in honour of her Dad, (who dadly died only 2 weeks ago). And suddenly Catharine had slipped into a white jumpsuit and it was time to dance! The DJ and sax man immediately got the dancefloor bouncing and it hardly stopped all night!
It was such a pleasure to join this fun pair – as both a guest and photographer – as my wife and Catharine trained together as counsellors. So it was all the more special to witness (and have a boogie with my wife!)
I always love discovering new venues at weddings in Yorkshire and this lovely spot was just magic, especially after such an awe inspiring ceremony!
Now enough chat already! Grab y’sen a steaming mug of Yorkshire tea (or a bottle of limoncello!) and hit play on the slideshow below to check out Catharine & Pete’s wedding highlights slideshow…
