On Friday I joined Norman + Martin for their wedding photography at Wortley Hall near Sheffield!
It was a beautiful day, filled with fun & love (& all things Paul Smith!). The sun shone all day long over the South Yorkshire Hills, while guests enjoyed the grand surroundings of Wortley Hall, just South of Barnsley. For more than six decades this hall has been chiefly associated with the British Labour movement and is full of socialist posters and interesting memorabilia. It is currently used by several trades unions and other organisations as a venue for residential training courses and other meetings, as well as for weddings & social gatherings. Norman + Martin liked the fact that because it’s a non-profit organisation, money from weddings held there end up contributing the Hall’s restoration and upkeep.
I do enjoy photographing gay weddings, because they come without the usual wedding traditions, like seeing each other before the ceremony. So my wingman for hire, James Lester, and I took the opportunity to do a round of portraits before the civil service, so these guys had maximum time to see their near and dear during the afternoon reception on the terrace!
The day went off without a hitch, and we had a blast documenting the story of their special union…
I hope you enjoy their wedding story!
Beautiful day hey!
Here’s wishing Norman + Martin a fantastic married life together, and a relaxing honeymoon break in Berlin (ahead of their big honeymoon to Hawaii & San Francisco in October)!
Congrats dudes!
